In 2016, we will be recruiting dozens of talented creatives with a passion for changing the world through smart, compelling, well-crafted storytelling. We are currently looking for the following professionals to help us inundate the interwebs with life-changing, world-altering, intelligence-fostering art and literature:
- Contributing Writers & Reviewers (culture, food, fashion, books, music, art, politics, environment, science, medicine, education, social justice, work-life, travel, articles about writing)
- Content Curators / Fact-Checkers
- Video / Multimedia Editors
Benefits of Working for a Promising Upstart like Change Seven
- Work from the privacy of your own ladybug infested, heat-sweltering home attic, basement, or dirty dish-strewn kitchen table.
- Casual Everydays, barring the one day you’ll need a clean shirt for your author’s pic (and hey, it doesn’t have to be that clean. It’s not as if we can smell it.)
- Professional oversight by writers and editors who will finally give you something worth writing about. Because, let’s face it, your blog is kind of just sucking right now.
- An extensive list of contacts in the literary world, many of which will come to owe you great favors for your fair and well-written articles about them/their books/their clients/you get it.
- Bylines, bios, and oh-me-oh-my-o’s. Building a portfolio, yadda yadda. But seriously, we’re not turning just anybody loose on our site who might besmirch, beseech (?), or otherwise besmudgen our hard-won reputation. This ain’t no dog and cyber-pony show that publishes a bunch of celebrity hooha or clickbait tomfoolery. This here’s a genuine literary journal filled with some of the great contemporary writers and artists of our time and read by erudite minds like yours!
- Good writerly habits. Such as hunting and gathering, for instance. You want to make it as a writer? Well, you’ve got to go out there and get the stories because they ain’t going to walk up to your ladybug infested attic and brave you in your soiled Hello Kitties, now, are they? Come on. And that novel you’re working on, those poems and stories… well, they could do with a bit more marinating, couldn’t they? And what better way to come at it again than with the fresh ideas and inspiration you’ll discover writing about writers and books you’ve long admired? Who knows, maybe a refresher of great storytelling is just the swift kick in the pants your saggy-assed plot needs anyway?
- We could go on and on (and on). Seriously, this is what we do. But you can see by now we ain’t throwing around large (or any) sums of money (just yet, though the possibilities may be around the bend). And you wouldn’t take it if we offered it anyway. Haha. We took a little creative license there, maybe. But the point is you’re an artist, and money means squat compared to the chance to make something good and true and beautiful and lasting. And that’s what we’re after here at Change Seven. We mean it when we say, like our literary idol Dorothy Parker, that we “can’t write five words but that we can change seven.” We put our backs and elbow-grease into this little nugget of prime internet real estate, and we’re choosy about the who’s and what-not’s that are featured thereupon it. We’ll say this, though: If our (insert euphemism here) does come in, you’ll be handsomely wrapped in the finest and thickest layers of choice-brand bacon money can buy and sun-dried on the steps of the Taj Mahal for precisely two hours 17 minutes as proscribed by ancient Zoorastrian sacred texts. Or we’ll just cut you a check. Either way. If any of this sounds appealing, read on!
