A French bulldog in a knitted yellow coat
bicycles rusting in the rain
an empty neighborhood pool
red leaves on sidewalks wet and bound
humans on lunch breaks wet and bound
green martyrs in trees
hanging on for dear life
and there was me—
a floating head in a bubble
wishing I could open a random door
slip inside and say here now
don't be scared
I'll just rest for a while.
