It’s packed with all kinds of wonder and wonderful pieces that had us by the throat on the first read, pieces we had to revisit over and over until they became ours, a loving kind of familiar, bothersome pieces, but we didn’t know why, and then we knew… we hadn’t dug deep enough. But finally they became ours too, part of our experience, our lives as we look back on this reading period where so much other shit was going on at the same time, some tough times going on, and the work here became the balm of Gilead, soothing us, pulling us into its loving embrace, lulling and healing us.
