“Blanket” by Morgan Bazilian

"Blanket"

The clouds blanket
only the highest peaks.

They light seems to come
from inside the
white and gray masses.

Glimpses of blue
in negative space
surround the hilltops
the wind evident and persistent.

The shadowed ridges
curve and fall
down to the forested valleys.

The day proceeds slowly
the end of a difficult year.

Morgan Bazilian is a professor of quantum mechanics and a poet.
